# Offer Nova in cPanel MeridianNova and Nova for WordPress® reach cPanel Meridian customers from the onboarding flow or the Website Builder section, and both need cPanel & WHM version 138 or later. Nova builds React projects that stay editable in Nova; Nova for WordPress builds Gutenberg sites that customers edit in WordPress after publishing. Setup takes a feature list enabling addondomains, apitokens, mysql, redirects and subdomains, plus wp-toolkit for WordPress, then a standard package with cPanel Theme set to meridian. Both share one credit pool per account.

You can offer Nova or Nova for WordPress® as part of your hosting packages in <a href="https://docs.cpanel.net/cpanel/meridian/getting-started/welcome-to-meridian/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">cPanel Meridian</a>. Your customers reach either one from their own cPanel account, and they keep full access to the cPanel interface.

## Nova and Nova for WordPress

Nova and Nova for WordPress are the two ways your customers can access Nova from cPanel Meridian. You can enable them independently and offer them as part of your hosting packages.

- **Nova** — Builds any app or site with a fully custom structure and design. It is best suited to custom apps, tools, and websites that need to perform a specific task. Customers can edit and republish their project at any time.
- **Nova for WordPress** — Builds WordPress sites using the standard WordPress block editor. It is best suited to content sites, blogs, and anything the WordPress plugin ecosystem already serves well. Customers can create new projects with Nova for WordPress and use the WordPress block editor to edit and republish.

## Requirements

To get Nova for your hosting company, <a href="https://docs.cpanel.net/manage2/licenses/how-to-purchase-a-nova-license/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">purchase a Nova license</a>. Nova functionality will automatically be available on your server about 15 minutes after you purchase the license.

Your server must meet the following technical requirements:

- Run cPanel & WHM version **138 or later**.
- Be either a dedicated Nova-targeted cPanel server or host both Nova and cPanel on the same server.
- Have a valid SSL certificate for the server's hostname.

## How customers reach Nova

Customers can access Nova when they add a website or when they manage their existing websites.

- **For new websites** — When a customer adds a new website, the _Nova_ or _Nova for WordPress_ options appear during the onboarding flow. They can publish their site or click _Back to cPanel_ to return to cPanel.
- **For existing websites** — Customers can navigate to the _Website Builder_ section (_cPanel >> Websites >> Manage >> Website Builder_) and build with _Nova_ or _Nova for WordPress_.

Nova for WordPress does **not** support editing and republishing from the Nova interface. Customers can use Nova for WordPress to create new sites, and then use the standard WordPress interface to edit and republish. We plan to introduce AI editing for published sites in a future release.

## Set up Nova in WHM

After you purchase a Nova license, complete the following steps in WHM:

1. [Create a Nova feature list](#create-a-nova-feature-list).
2. [Create a Nova package](#create-a-nova-package).
3. [Assign the Nova package to cPanel accounts](#assign-the-nova-package-to-cpanel-accounts).

### Create a Nova feature list

To create a new feature list for Nova or Nova for WordPress, perform the following steps:

1. Go to WHM's <a href="https://docs.cpanel.net/whm/packages/feature-manager/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">_Feature Manager_</a> interface (_WHM >> Home >> Packages >> Feature Manager_).
2. Click _Add a new feature list_ to create a feature list, or select an existing one and click _Edit_.
3. Select _Nova (Meridian)_, _Nova for WordPress (Meridian)_, or both.
4. Select the [required features](#required-features) for Nova or Nova for WordPress.
5. Click _Save_.

#### Required features

Nova and Nova for WordPress require the following features:

### Create a Nova package

To create or update a hosting package for Nova on cPanel Meridian, perform the following steps:

1. Navigate to WHM's <a href="https://docs.cpanel.net/whm/packages/add-a-package/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">_Add a Package_</a> interface (_WHM >> Home >> Packages >> Add a Package_).
2. In the _Package Type_ section, select _Standard Package_.
3. Type a name for the package and configure its resources and settings.
   - You **must** set _cPanel Theme_ to _meridian_. The classic cPanel Jupiter theme does not have access to Nova.
   - The _Feature List_ setting shows all feature lists that you have configured for Nova and Nova for WordPress.
4. In the _Package Extensions_ section, select _Nova_ and a package tier. For more information on each tier, read our [Billing and AI Credits](/en/welcome/billing-and-ai-credits/) documentation.
5. Click _Add_.

#### Set domain limits in a package

Domain limits work the same way for every Nova deployment on cPanel & WHM. Configure the _Max Addon Domains_ option in the package settings to control how many projects each customer can publish. #### Shared credit pool

Nova and Nova for WordPress share the same credit pool. Therefore, if a customer is on a package that includes both, their usage in Nova or Nova for WordPress draws equally from the credits in their package tier.

Customers can use their Nova and Nova for WordPress credits in any combination. For example, a customer on a Start package (15 credits) could use 5 credits on Nova and 10 credits on Nova for WordPress sites, or any other combination.

### Assign the Nova package to cPanel accounts

After creating your Nova and Nova for WordPress packages, you can assign them to new or existing cPanel accounts:

- For new accounts, use WHM API 1's <a href="https://docs.cpanel.net/whm/account-functions/create-a-new-account/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">_Create a New Account_</a> interface (_WHM >> Home >> Account Functions >> Create a New Account_).
- For existing accounts, use WHM's <a href="https://docs.cpanel.net/whm/account-functions/upgrade-downgrade-an-account/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">_Upgrade/Downgrade an Account_</a> interface (_WHM >> Home >> Account Functions >> Upgrade/Downgrade an Account_).

## WHM API 1 functions

You can use the following WHM API 1 functions to manage your feature lists, packages, and cPanel accounts for Nova on cPanel Meridian. Run each command as the `root` user on your cPanel & WHM server.

### Feature lists

Use WHM API 1's <a href="https://api.docs.cpanel.net/openapi/whm/operation/create_featurelist/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">`create_featurelist`</a> or <a href="https://api.docs.cpanel.net/openapi/whm/operation/update_featurelist/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">`update_featurelist`</a> functions to manage your feature lists. Your request **must** enable all the features Nova or Nova for WordPress requires, unless they were already enabled.

For example, you can run the following command to create a Nova feature list:

```shell
whmapi1 create_featurelist featurelist=nova_meridian \
  nova=1 addondomains=1 apitokens=1 mysql=1 redirects=1 subdomains=1
```

To create a Nova for WordPress feature list, run the following command:

```shell
whmapi1 create_featurelist featurelist=nova_wordpress \
  nova-wordpress=1 addondomains=1 apitokens=1 mysql=1 redirects=1 \
  subdomains=1 wp-toolkit=1
```

### Packages

Use the <a href="https://api.docs.cpanel.net/specifications/whm.openapi/hosting-plans/packages-addpkg" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">`addpkg`</a>, <a href="https://api.docs.cpanel.net/openapi/whm/operation/editpkg/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">`editpkg`</a>, and <a href="https://api.docs.cpanel.net/openapi/whm/operation/addpkgext/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">`addpkgext`</a> functions to manage your Nova packages. You can include the following parameters in your request:

| Parameter | Description |
|---|---|
| `name` | The name of your package. |
| `featurelist` | The Nova or Nova for WordPress feature list with the required dependencies. |
| `_PACKAGE_EXTENSIONS` | The extensions you enable for the package. You must set this to `'ai-app-builder'`. |
| `cpmod` | The cPanel theme. You must set this to `meridian`. |
| `AI_APP_BUILDER_TIER` | The package tier for the cPanel account. Use `free`, `start`, `build`, `grow`, or `scale`. This parameter defaults to `free`. |

For example, you can run the following command to create a Nova package on the `start` tier:

```shell
whmapi1 addpkg name=nova-meridian-start featurelist=nova_meridian \
  cpmod=meridian _PACKAGE_EXTENSIONS=ai-app-builder AI_APP_BUILDER_TIER=start
```

### cPanel accounts

Use the <a href="https://api.docs.cpanel.net/specifications/whm.openapi/account-creation/accounts-createacct" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">`createacct`</a> and <a href="https://api.docs.cpanel.net/specifications/whm.openapi/account-management/accounts-modifyacct" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">`modifyacct`</a> functions to manage your customers' access to Nova on cPanel Meridian.

- You **must** set the `plan` parameter to the `name` of your Nova or Nova for WordPress package.
- You **must** set the `cpmod` parameter to `meridian`.

For example, you can run the following command to create a cPanel account on the `nova-meridian-start` package:

```shell
whmapi1 createacct username=user domain=example.com \
  plan=nova-meridian-start cpmod=meridian
```
